Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making a powerful infrastructure push with the launch of multiple projects totaling nearly ₹9,400 crore across Telangana and Karnataka on May 10, signaling massive economic and connectivity upgrades in these key southern states.
The PM’s day begins in Bengaluru at 11 AM with celebrations marking 45 years of The Art of Living and the 70th birthday of spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Modi will inaugurate the new Dhyan Mandir meditation hall at the Art of Living International Centre, designed as a sanctuary for spiritual wellness.
Alongside this, Modi will roll out national initiatives targeting mental health, rural development, environmental conservation, and social transformation. These are poised to complement infrastructure improvements with enhanced community well-being programs.
Major Telangana Projects Launched to Boost Connectivity and Industry
Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel to Hyderabad for a high-profile event scheduled around 3 PM, during which he will unveil several game-changing infrastructure projects.
A keystone development is the launch of the four-laning of National Highway-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar, part of the Hyderabad–Panaji Economic Corridor. Developed at a cost exceeding ₹3,175 crore, the upgraded highway promises to cut travel time by nearly 90 minutes, reduce fuel use, and lower vehicle maintenance costs, directly benefiting interstate transport between Telangana and Karnataka.
Another landmark initiative is the foundation stone laying for the Zaheerabad Industrial Area in Sangareddy district, within the Hyderabad–Nagpur Industrial Corridor. This sprawling 3,245-acre zone, at an estimated investment of over ₹2,350 crore, is designed as a smart industrial township with seamless access to ports, railways, and airports. Sectors targeted for investment include automobile manufacturing, machinery, food processing, and electrical equipment, with projected investments topping ₹10,000 crore and substantial job creation on the horizon.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the PM MITRA Park at Warangal, a massive textile park built at about ₹1,700 crore cost. This is India’s first fully operational PM MITRA Park, part of the government’s “5F” vision to revolutionize textiles from farm inputs to global fashion export. Strategically located near major expressways and rail connections, the park integrates advanced infrastructure with sustainable technology like zero-liquid discharge effluent treatment.
Railway and Energy Upgrades Enhance Regional Movement
Modi will dedicate completed phases of the Kazipet–Vijayawada multitracking project, worth around ₹1,535 crore. Covering approximately 118 kilometers, this project will expand line capacity on the critical Grand Trunk railway route, improving freight and passenger transit speed, reducing congestions, and enhancing punctuality.
Another railway milestone is the dedication of the Kazipet Rail Under Rail Bypass, engineered to decongest the busy Kazipet Junction by enabling simultaneous train movement on main lines to Hyderabad, Balharshah, and Vijayawada, significantly reducing delays.
Energy infrastructure also advances with the dedication of Indian Oil’s Greenfield Terminal at Malkapur, Hyderabad. Built for over ₹600 crore, this facility boosts petroleum product handling and storage with a capacity of 165,000 kilolitres, securing fuel logistics across Telangana and neighboring states.
New State-of-the-Art Cancer Hospital Poised to Transform Healthcare
In a major boost to healthcare, PM Modi will dedicate the Sindhu Hospital in Hyderabad, an advanced cancer-focused multi-super speciality quaternary care center. Spread over 2.1 million square feet and 18 floors high, this not-for-profit hospital houses 1,500 beds, 29 high-tech operation theatres, and over 150 consultation rooms. It provides comprehensive cancer treatments including chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow transplants, and over 33 super-speciality services supported by sophisticated diagnostic and blood bank facilities.
A Vision for a Developed Telangana and India
Officials highlight that the suite of projects reflects the government’s integrated development approach aiming for “Viksit Telangana for Viksit Bharat”. This ambitious agenda targets employment growth, industrial expansion, improved public health, and state-of-the-art connectivity — positioning Telangana as a critical economic and industrial hub in India.
For US audiences and Alaskans tracking global infrastructure trends, these projects underscore India’s rapid modernization efforts and strategic investments in sustainable transport and healthcare that could shape global supply chains and health innovations.
