Lindsey Buckingham Announces New Solo Album After Fleetwood Reconciliation

Lindsey Buckingham has announced plans for a new solo album, marking his return to music after a five-year hiatus. The former Fleetwood Mac guitarist shared insights about the upcoming project in a recent social media post, stating that it embodies “25 years of learning.” This will be his eighth solo record, following the release of his self-titled album in 2021.

Buckingham’s career with Fleetwood Mac began in 1975 when he replaced Bob Welch. He played a pivotal role in the band’s most successful era, contributing to numerous hits and albums. His new album will be his first collection of original music since his ousting from the band in 2018, a move that saw Mike Campbell and Neil Finn step in for the band’s final performances.

In a video posted to X, Buckingham expressed his enthusiasm for the new work, emphasizing its significance: “This new album is the culmination of everything that I’ve learned from making solo albums over the last 25 years. I feel like this particular album is the culmination of holding a certain line ethically and idealistically that I’ve managed to maintain for many years. So I’m really excited about this piece of work.”

Reconciliation with Mick Fleetwood

The announcement comes shortly after Buckingham’s public reconciliation with Mick Fleetwood. In March 2025, the two were seen together in the studio, working on Fleetwood’s first album since the end of Fleetwood Mac. Swedish producer Carl Falk, who is collaborating with Fleetwood, described the moment as “unreal,” noting that it marked the first time the duo had joined forces in seven years.

The split from Fleetwood Mac was a disappointment for many fans, yet it opened new opportunities for both Buckingham and Campbell. Campbell, who had been mourning the loss of Tom Petty, later described the chance to perform with Fleetwood Mac as a lifeline during a difficult time.

Buckingham’s recent activities also include the reissue of **Buckingham Nicks**, the album he recorded with former Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks in 1973. This pivotal record helped both artists secure their places in Fleetwood Mac, where they continued to collaborate despite personal and professional challenges. Nicks has also enjoyed a successful solo career, with hits like “Edge of Seventeen” and “Quit Draggin’ My Heart Around.”

With Buckingham’s upcoming album, fans can expect a reflection on his extensive career and the lessons he has learned over the decades. As he prepares to share this new music, the anticipation builds for a project that promises to merge his rich history with fresh creativity.

As Buckingham continues to navigate the evolving landscape of his career, the forthcoming album signals a new chapter, one that honors his past while looking forward to the future.
