Philadelphia Police Deliver 425 Holiday Meals in Urgent Drive

UPDATE: The Philadelphia Police Department is urgently delivering 425 holiday meal boxes to families in need as part of its annual initiative, Operation Thanksgiving, taking place today, November 21, 2023. This heartfelt effort, backed by the generous contributions of local officers, aims to ensure that no family goes without a Thanksgiving meal.

The initiative is the result of months of preparation and dedication, with police officers collecting over 16,000 donations of food items. Students from Roman High School have also stepped in, volunteering their time to help pack each box filled with essential Thanksgiving staples. Each box contains a turkey, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, cake mix, green beans, canned goods, stuffing, cornbread, and gravy, making it a complete holiday meal.

Every meal box comes with a personal note from Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, adding a special touch to this community-focused initiative. Officers from various police districts are now on their way to deliver these meals directly to families in their neighborhoods, emphasizing the department’s commitment to supporting local residents.

This year’s Operation Thanksgiving underscores the importance of community and collaboration, especially during the holiday season. Residents can feel the impact of this initiative as officers personally connect with families, bringing not just food but also hope and goodwill.
