Larry Garmezy’s “Bending Light” Exhibition Opens at Women’s Institute

The upcoming exhibition, “Bending Light,” will showcase the work of artist and geologist Larry Garmezy at the Women’s Institute of Houston. This marks Garmezy’s eighth solo exhibition, set to run from December 15, 2025, to March 13, 2026. The exhibition promises to reveal the hidden beauty and complexity of nature through Garmezy’s unique perspective.

Garmezy, a member of the Archway Gallery, employs a blend of scientific precision and artistic curiosity in his photography. His work captures unexpected patterns, distortions, and reflections that light creates in the natural world. For instance, viewers can expect to see images depicting ripples in springs, the tension of water around leaves, and the intricate imperfections present in centuries-old glass. Through these images, he transforms ordinary scenes into abstract representations that encourage viewers to reconsider their surroundings.

The exhibition is not only an artistic endeavor; it also supports a cause. Fifteen percent of all sales from the exhibition will be donated to the Women’s Institute of Houston, demonstrating Garmezy’s commitment to giving back to the community.

Visitors can view “Bending Light” at the Women’s Institute, located at 2202 Avalon Place. The gallery’s regular hours are from 09:00 to 16:00, Monday through Thursday, and from 09:00 to 12:00 on Fridays. Notably, the institute will be closed on January 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
