The UC Davis Children’s Hospital is making the holiday season a little brighter for pediatric patients with its annual Virtual Holiday Toy Drive. Running through December 24, the initiative allows donors to provide gifts to children and families spending the holidays in medical care. This year marks the seventh iteration of the drive, which has become a cherished tradition for the community.
Support from the Community Brings Joy
Participants in the Virtual Holiday Toy Drive can choose specific items from a wish list or make a monetary donation to support gift purchases. The funds raised will benefit not only the pediatric patients at the UC Davis Children’s Hospital but also those at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and the UC Davis MIND Institute. This approach ensures that children receiving care during the festive season receive gifts that are meaningful and enjoyable.
In addition to holiday gifts, donations will allow the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department to purchase toys and games throughout the year. These resources will be used for birthdays, special celebrations, and other significant milestones, enhancing the hospital experience for young patients.
Diana Sundberg, manager of the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department, expressed gratitude for the community’s support: “We are so grateful for the generosity of our community. Every donation helps bring joy and comfort to children and families spending their holidays in the hospital. Your support truly makes the season brighter for our patients.”
How to Participate
Donations can be made easily via the Virtual Holiday Toy Drive website, where donors can view the wish list and contribute to the cause from the comfort of their homes. The drive not only brings immediate joy through gifts but also ensures ongoing support for the hospital’s young patients throughout the year.
As the holiday season approaches, the need for community support is critical. The toy drive serves as a reminder of the impact that generosity can have on those facing challenging times. With each contribution, the UC Davis Children’s Hospital aims to create a more festive and comforting environment for children in their care.
