The Cleveland Jewish News is set to celebrate 18 individuals recognized as Difference Makers during its 10th annual reception and awards ceremony on December 11, 2025. The event will take place at Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights, commencing at 5:30 p.m.. This year’s honorees include notable figures who have made substantial contributions to the community and beyond.
Among the distinguished recipients is Erika Gold, a Holocaust survivor and advocate, who will receive the Sam Miller Lifetime Achievement Award. At 93 years old, Gold has dedicated decades to sharing her experiences with students and local organizations, emphasizing the importance of remembrance and education. The award will be presented by the Cleveland Jewish News Foundation.
Another prominent figure, Lee Fisher, president of Baldwin Wallace University, will be honored with the Civic Leadership Award, presented by the Krause Family Foundation. Fisher, who previously served as dean of the Cleveland State University College of Law, has been recognized for his leadership and commitment to civic engagement.
The Generation Award will go to the Wain family, comprising Beth Wain Brandon, Amy Wain, Cathy Stamler, and David Wain. This award acknowledges their family’s lasting legacy in community leadership. Their late father, Norman Wain, was a respected radio station owner and a key figure in the Cleveland Jewish community, having served as chair of the Cleveland Jewish Publication Company.

The 2025 class of 18 Difference Makers also includes a diverse group of community leaders. Notable individuals recognized this year are:

Past recipients of the Sam Miller Lifetime Achievement Award include figures such as Michael Siegal, Lois Goodman, and Roe Green, among others. The Civic Leadership Award has previously honored individuals like Dan Moulthrop and Judge Dan Aaron Polster. The Generation Award has recognized families such as the Wuliger family and the Yanowitz family in recent years.
