Community Thanksgiving Service in Havertown Set for Nov. 23

UPDATE: A highly anticipated Community Thanksgiving Service is set for this Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 3 p.m. at St. James UCC in Havertown, Pennsylvania. The event, organized by the Haverford Township Ministerium, carries the theme “United in Gratitude” and promises to be an uplifting interfaith gathering.

This service is significant as it brings together multiple faith communities to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving while supporting a worthy cause. The offering will benefit the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, which provides educational scholarships for its community members. This initiative highlights the importance of gratitude and education within the Lenape community.

Key speakers for the event include Barbara Lee and Barry Lee, both representing the Lenape Nation. They will share messages that reflect on Native American heritage, enhancing the cultural significance of the Thanksgiving celebration.

For those wishing to participate musically, a community choir will rehearse at 2:15 p.m. just before the service. Interested singers are encouraged to arrive promptly to join in this collaborative effort.

In addition to this major event, local churches are gearing up for a series of Thanksgiving and Advent activities that are sure to engage the community. The Trainer Trinity United Methodist Church will hold its regular service at 10:15 a.m. on the same day, led by Pastor Hilda Campbell.

As November progresses, various churches are unveiling their holiday plans, including special music events and community outreach programs. This includes the Havertown United Methodist Church, which will feature Barbara Christy and Barry Lee on November 23 to celebrate Native American History Month, sharing music and stories that honor indigenous culture.

With the holiday season fast approaching, community members are encouraged to participate in these events, fostering unity and collective gratitude.

Stay tuned for further updates as local churches continue to announce their upcoming Christmas services and community gatherings.
