At 4:37 p.m. on Sunday, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting gunshots near residences along Old Agency Drive and Onigum Road Northwest. Deputies responded swiftly, initiating an investigation into the alarming reports.
The situation escalated when deputies attempted to contact a male subject in the 8000 block of Onigum Road Northwest. The suspect fled on foot, leading to a dramatic chase. During the pursuit, an exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in the deputy sustaining a gunshot wound to the upper right thigh. He was airlifted to a hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, for treatment.
