Ex-Wife of Astronaut Anne McClain Pleads Guilty to Fraud Charges

URGENT UPDATE: Summer Heather Worden, the ex-wife of astronaut Anne McClain, has just pleaded guilty to falsifying accusations against McClain involving illegal access to her bank records while McClain was aboard the International Space Station (ISS). This shocking development was confirmed by U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei, revealing that Worden admitted to granting McClain access to her financial accounts since 2015.

In a plea accepted by U.S. District Judge Alfred Bennett on October 19, 2023, Worden confessed to changing her login credentials to her bank accounts in January 2019—after previously allowing McClain access. She now faces up to five years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for February 12, 2026.

The legal battle between Worden and McClain gained public attention during their contentious divorce and custody proceedings over Worden’s son. Initially, McClain was accused of assault, but those charges were later dismissed, further complicating the already tumultuous situation. Their marriage was officially dissolved in January 2020.

Anne McClain, a former Lieutenant Colonel and combat veteran, spent approximately five months aboard the ISS during a period she described as “some tumultuous times on Earth.” Reflecting on her mission, McClain stated, “We want this mission, our mission, to be a reminder of what people can do when we work together, when we explore together.”

Following the allegations, McClain’s actions came under scrutiny from the NASA Office of Inspector General. The investigation was subsequently handed over to Assistant U.S. Attorneys Richard D. Hanes and Brandon Fyffe for prosecution.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Worden remains out on bond, awaiting her sentencing date. This case highlights the complex intersection of personal and professional lives, drawing significant media attention and public interest.
