URGENT UPDATE: Boston Police have seized over two kilograms of fentanyl and arrested five suspects in a significant drug bust in the Southwest Corridor area. This operation, prompted by community complaints about rising drug activity, underscores the ongoing opioid crisis gripping the city.
Authorities confirmed that the coordinated effort involved various law enforcement units, including the Boston Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and the Youth Violence Strike Force, which executed multiple search warrants across neighborhoods, specifically targeting locations on Stratton Street in Dorchester, Hazelton Street in Mattapan, and Tremont Street in Roxbury.
A police statement revealed the seizure included not only fentanyl but also 32 rounds of ammunition, digital scales, drug packaging materials, and more than $3,000 in cash. The suspects arrested are identified as Ricky Wilson Soto-Arias, 36; Doris Baez, 37; Bryan Mejia, 31; Jeil Hernandez, 44; and Stephen Smith, 37. All suspects, except Smith, face charges related to trafficking Class A drugs. Additionally, Soto-Arias and Baez are charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, while Smith has outstanding warrants for breaking and entering and larceny.
