The New 96.1 Launches All-Christmas Music for Holidays NOW

UPDATE: The holiday season has officially begun in Buffalo, with The New 96.1 launching its all-Christmas music format! The station made the switch over the weekend and celebrated with a lively morning show on Monday, creating a festive atmosphere for listeners.

Morning host Dave Fields announced, “We’re the only station in Buffalo playing all Christmas music. We wanted to get a jump on the holiday season.” The station aims to bring joy to Western New York by playing Christmas favorites around the clock, starting now and continuing through Christmas Day and beyond.

The festive kickoff featured special guests, including Joshua Vacanti from The Voice, along with other local artists and a surprise visit from Santa Claus. The celebration not only marks the start of the holiday season but also highlights the station’s commitment to the community through its Cans for Christmas Food Drive in partnership with St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy. Fields shared that the drive is collecting non-perishable food items until December 14, with numerous drop-off locations across Western New York, including Vidler’s in East Aurora and the law offices of William Mattar.

For many, Christmas music is more than just entertainment; it’s a source of cherished memories. Fields reflected on his own nostalgic moments, saying, “My biggest one is Little Drummer Boy. I remember dancing around the kitchen with my dad when I was four or five. That song brings back such wonderful memories.”

Listeners can submit their song requests via The New 96.1 app, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their holiday favorites. As the station fills the airwaves with festive tunes, it seeks to uplift spirits and spread holiday cheer throughout the region.

Stay tuned as Buffalo’s own The New 96.1 keeps the Christmas spirit alive with non-stop music and community support. Don’t miss out on the celebrations—get involved with the food drive and request your favorite holiday songs!
