Saugus Readies for Veterans Day Events to Honor Local Heroes

UPDATE: Saugus is ramping up preparations to honor its veterans with a series of impactful events as Veterans Day approaches. The first event, a tribute and luncheon at the Senior Center, is set for November 10 at 11 a.m. and will feature a delicious pot pie luncheon from Harrows Chicken Pies.

Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Stephen Castinetti, commander of the Saugus Veterans Council, will serve as the master of ceremonies. Attendees can expect a stirring performance from the Senior Center’s Sing-a-Long Group, led by pianist Tony Sarno. Following the program, a dessert table sponsored by Andrew Firman from Benefits Advisors Group will provide sweet treats for all. Tickets for this significant gathering are priced at $6, and advance sign-up is required.

In addition, the Daughters of the American Revolution Parson Roby Chapter is busy preparing for the community’s annual tribute. Each year, the chapter decorates the Town Hall lawn to create a poignant Field of Flags, symbolizing honor and remembrance for veterans.

The main event on November 11 kicks off with a Rolling Rally hosted by Guy Moley’s car show team. Participants are encouraged to gather at the Senior Center at 10 a.m. to witness the procession of classic cars rolling past the Veterans Memorial before arriving at Town Hall.

Following the rally, Saugus will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park, located at 1 Central St.. This solemn event will bring together veterans, town officials, community members, and local organizations to pay tribute to those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The ceremony will include heartfelt remarks from community leaders, a wreath-laying ceremony, and a moment of silence to honor the sacrifices of those who lost their lives serving their country.

As Saugus gears up for these heartfelt tributes, residents are urged to participate in honoring their local heroes. The events promise to be a meaningful way to reflect on the courage and commitment of veterans, ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten.

Stay tuned for updates on these important events as the town honors its heroes on Veterans Day.
