Staten Island Man Arrested in Undercover Child Luring Operation

BREAKING: A 53-year-old Staten Island man has been arrested for attempting to lure a minor in a shocking undercover operation. Marc Donato, of Dinsmore Street in Bulls Head, was taken into custody on October 23 at around 4 p.m. near 1 Richmond Terrace, following a six-week investigation by the NYPD’s Organized Crime Task Force.

Authorities report that Donato believed he was communicating with a 15-year-old girl named “Bella.” Investigators allege that he exchanged sexually explicit messages with an undercover officer posing as the girl. In one alarming exchange, Donato responded to the girl’s reference to her age, stating it was “kinda exciting & forbidden to be honest.”

The investigation began on September 10, with Donato allegedly arranging to meet the supposed minor at the Staten Island Ferry terminal on the day of his arrest. When the undercover officer informed him she was arriving, Donato reportedly replied that he would “wait by H&M” and that she was “about to make me do something illegal.”

Upon his arrest, Donato reportedly stated, “I’m talking to a bunch of girls online, this is a fantasy of mine to have sex with a stepdaughter… if she was 15 and got to my car I might have let her in.” He faces serious charges, including attempted luring of a child, attempted rape, and attempted sexual abuse, according to the criminal complaint.

Prosecutors have requested bail set at $10,000 cash or $30,000 bond, but the judge denied the bail request, ordering Donato to be released under supervision. His attorney, Lou Gelormino, stated, “Mr. Donato categorically denies these allegations,” emphasizing a commitment to a thorough investigation.

The NYPD is urging any parents whose children may have had contact with Donato to reach out. They can contact the NYPD Sex Crimes Hotline at 212-267-RAPE (7273).
