Motorcyclist Kevin Jellison, 58, Dies in East Bay Freeway Crash

UPDATE: A tragic collision on Interstate 80 in Oakland has left a motorcyclist dead. Authorities confirm that Kevin Jellison, a 58-year-old resident of Roseville, was killed in the multi-vehicle crash that occurred around 2:30 p.m. on July 15, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that Jellison was riding a Honda VT motorcycle when he collided with a Toyota Prius, a Tesla Model S, and a Subaru Crosstrek on eastbound I-80, west of Powell Street. Despite the quick response from emergency services, Jellison was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries have been reported, and all drivers involved remained at the scene to cooperate with ongoing investigations.

The CHP has stated that initial findings indicate that neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors in the crash. Authorities shut down three lanes of the freeway closest to the center divider at approximately 2:52 p.m. to conduct their investigation, with traffic resuming at 4:19 p.m.
