Carol A. Stent, a cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at her home in Overton, Nevada. She was surrounded by her beloved husband, David Y. Nakahara. Carol’s life was marked by her vibrant spirit, a deep love for family, and her unwavering commitment to helping others.
A Life Rich in Experience and Relationships
Born on July 14, 1939, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Carol was the daughter of John and Jenny (Slajinsky) Prespolis. She graduated in the Class of 1957 from Saint Mary’s of the Annunciation, where she formed lasting friendships with both her classmates and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, who played a significant role in her education.
Following her graduation, the allure of adventure led Carol and four of her classmates to San Francisco, California, where they carved out careers and found love. Her striking beauty and zest for life caught the attention of Raymond Michael Stent, a medical intern from England, during his internship at Los Angeles County U.S.C. Hospital. After Raymond completed his residency at U.C.L.A. and received his board certification in neurology, the couple wed at the picturesque Wayfarers Chapel.
In the 1980s, after their divorce, Carol found love again with David Nakahara. The couple married on May 20, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and went on to raise a family of seventeen pets, whom they affectionately referred to as their “fur babies.”
Legacy of Compassion and Strength
Carol’s life was characterized by her passion for all living things and her dedication to her family. She played an instrumental role in caring for David’s elderly parents, providing them with support and counsel during their final years. This commitment continued even after she experienced a stroke that left her partially paralyzed.
Despite the challenges she faced, Carol’s spirit remained unbroken. Her wit, resilience, and genuine love for those around her illuminated the lives of many. She is survived by her husband, David, and her sisters: Paula Couture of Dracut, Massachusetts, and Naples, Florida; Janet Buchino of Randolph, Massachusetts, and Naples, Florida; and Helen Botehlo of Conway, South Carolina.
Carol A. Stent’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to cross her path. As her family reflects on her life, they express gratitude for the time spent with her, affirming that her spirit will forever shine brightly in their memories. Soli Deo Gloria… Only To God the Glory.
