URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated art exhibition, Living Collection: Works on Paper by Jason Eisner, is now open at St. Ambrose University‘s Morrissey Gallery and will run until April 24. Located at 2101 Gaines Street, Davenport, IA, this exhibition showcases Eisner’s latest work that vividly reflects his dynamic life as an artist.
Eisner, who has spent over 30 years in New York City, draws inspiration from his surroundings and experiences. His pieces are described as “found out of the corner of the eye and drawn while on break, sitting in the grass.” This sentiment captures the essence of his artistic process, merging daily life with creativity.
Currently, Eisner works as a Master Pruner and Horticulturalist at the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, a stunning 500-acre arboretum that houses over 8,000 trees, shrubs, and plants. His unique role allows him to intertwine his artistry with nature, emphasizing that one can be an artist in any environment.
As the exhibition highlights, “When does one become an artist? When does an artist make art?” Eisner embodies the spirit of a true artist, continuously finding time to create between his professional responsibilities and personal life. He received a BA from Knox College and a Painting Certificate from the New York Studio School in Manhattan.
Visitors can explore this compelling collection at the Morrissey Gallery from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with free admission. This opportunity to engage with Eisner’s artwork is a must-see for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
