Driver Dies in El Cajon Crash Involving Box Truck

A tragic collision in El Cajon, California, resulted in the death of a 19-year-old driver on March 14, 2024. The incident, which involved a black BMW and a box truck, occurred around 15:25 local time at the intersection of Broadway and Oro Street, according to Lt. Joe Crawford of the El Cajon Police Department.

Emergency responders arrived to find the box truck overturned and, according to witnesses, briefly on fire. The driver of the BMW, identified as Jesse Hernandez from El Cajon, was trapped within the severely damaged vehicle. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.

The two occupants of the box truck, who were delivering goods at the time, sustained minor injuries. Their condition has been reported as stable.
