UPDATE: A 27-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of her stepmother, 69-year-old Kathy Brown, after a shocking incident unfolded at their home in Spring, Texas, early Friday morning.
Authorities report that just before 11 a.m., a man working on the victim’s pool heard a series of five gunshots echoing from inside the residence on Hannover Forest. When deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene, they discovered Brown fatally wounded in the kitchen, with multiple gunshot wounds.
The only other person present in the home at the time was the victim’s stepdaughter, Dakayla Dailey, who has since been taken into custody and charged with murder. This tragic event has left the local community in shock, as neighbors remember Brown for her kindness and warmth.
“She was kind to everyone on the street. She always had a good thing to say to everybody, so it’s quite a shock,”
