Mike France Launches Campaign for Connecticut’s 19th Senate District

Mike France has officially announced his candidacy for the 19th Senate District in Connecticut, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his military, engineering, and legislative careers. In a community announcement, France emphasized his commitment to fiscal responsibility, government accountability, and support for families throughout eastern Connecticut.

France, a retired U.S. Navy Engineering Duty Officer, also serves as a senior systems engineer in the defense industry. His political background includes service on the Ledyard Town Council and four terms representing the 42nd District in the Connecticut House. During his legislative tenure, he held significant roles, including ranking member of both the Appropriations Committee and the Government Administration and Elections Committee.

In his announcement, France highlighted his track record of advocating for balanced budgeting. He has consistently pushed for controlling state spending rather than resorting to tax increases or accumulating state debt. Notably, during the 2017 legislative session, France played a pivotal role in shaping a Republican budget proposal that incorporated fiscal constraints ultimately adopted into the state’s final biennial budget.

France plans to focus his campaign on enhancing fiscal transparency, fostering economic growth in eastern Connecticut, and protecting taxpayers while ensuring essential services remain intact. He expressed a particular commitment to elevating the voices of small towns and families that he believes have been overlooked in Hartford.

“My leadership philosophy has remained consistent across my work in the Navy, the defense industry, and state government,” France stated. He described his approach as mission-focused, dedicated to serving those who rely on his leadership.

As the campaign progresses, France’s extensive background in both public service and the private sector may resonate with voters as they consider the future direction of their district. His commitment to addressing the needs of eastern Connecticut families and promoting fiscal responsibility will likely be central themes in his candidacy.
