Google has integrated the AI music-making platform ProducerAI into its suite of tools, marking a significant advancement in AI content creation. Formerly known as Riffusion, ProducerAI allows users to generate music tracks from text prompts. This latest move enables the platform to produce longer tracks, extending up to three minutes, which caters to musicians and content creators looking for more complete musical pieces rather than just short loops.
The revamped ProducerAI harnesses the capabilities of Google’s Gemini AI to interpret more intricate user instructions. This enhances the platform’s functionality, allowing it to produce high-fidelity audio through the Lyria 3 engine. Additionally, the integration of Google’s video-generation model, Veo, facilitates the creation of visual components that accompany the music.
Seth Fosgren, co-founder and CEO of ProducerAI, expressed excitement about the platform’s potential under Google’s banner. He noted that users can interact with the platform similarly to how they would use a Gemini model, asking questions and exploring new music genres. Fosgren emphasized that the team is just beginning to explore the possibilities offered by Google’s resources.
Elias Roman, director of product management at Google Labs, clarified that the platform is not merely a tool for random music generation. He stated, “The reality is that’s not how good music is made,” highlighting the platform’s intention to support musicians in their creative processes rather than replace them.
The Chainsmokers’ Alex Pall praised ProducerAI’s evolution, noting that it is designed with the musician’s experience in mind. He acknowledged the technical expertise of the founders and their understanding of the complexities involved in music creation.
Currently, ProducerAI is accessible in 250 countries through its website, offering users both free and paid plans starting at $6 per month. This accessibility positions it as a valuable resource for artists globally, looking to innovate their music production process. As Google continues to explore the intersection of technology and creativity, the future of music-making appears to be evolving rapidly with tools like ProducerAI at the forefront.
