BREAKING NEWS: Robert P. “Bob” Briere, a beloved resident of Lowell, has passed away at the age of 67 after a courageous fight against cancer. He succumbed to the illness on February 1, 2026, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of love for sports and family.
Briere was born in Lowell on October 7, 1958, as the youngest son of the late Henry and Lillian Briere. A passionate sports enthusiast, Bob was particularly devoted to his New England teams and cherished sharing his sports knowledge. His extensive collection of baseball cards, spanning decades, was a testament to his dedication.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a machine operator for Sonoco Products, contributing significantly to his community. He is survived by his sister, Pauline M. Briere; sister-in-law, Karen Briere; niece, Jen Briere, and her spouse Doug Nolin; two nephews, Jon Briere and his partner Kellie Roy, and James Briere with his spouse Jenn Burgess. Additionally, he leaves behind several great nephews and a great niece who were incredibly special to him.
Funeral arrangements are set for Monday, February 9, at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home, located at 4 Cassaway Dr., Tyngsborough, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day, Tuesday, February 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Parish, 543 Bridge St., Lowell. Briere will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
