A new Mediterranean restaurant, Mediterrano by Santorini, is scheduled to open in West Cape May this spring. Owned by Florian Furxhiu, the restaurant will occupy the space previously held by the Exit Zero Filling Station at 110 Sunset Blvd.. According to the restaurant’s official Facebook page, the establishment aims to offer a unique dining experience that highlights both Greek and Italian cuisines.
Furxhiu is already well-known in the area for his successful ventures, which include the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant Santorini and the Italian eatery Venezia in nearby Wildwood. He also owns Tacodelphia, a popular taco restaurant located in Philadelphia. While Mediterrano by Santorini will not serve as an extension of his previous concepts, it will focus on a seafood-centric menu featuring popular dishes from both Greek and Italian culinary traditions.
Transformative Redesign Plans
The new dining space will undergo significant renovations, making it nearly unrecognizable from its former use. Furxhiu plans to create a vibrant atmosphere reflective of Mediterranean charm, incorporating lush greenery, water features, and artistic elements inspired by ancient Greek and Roman cultures. The redesign will include a spacious outdoor patio, providing diners with a unique setting to enjoy their meals while embracing the coastal ambiance of Cape May.
While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, Furxhiu is targeting a debut in May 2024. The restaurant will serve dinner year-round, with lunch options available during the busy summer season, from May through September. Updates regarding the opening and other details can be followed on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
The introduction of Mediterrano by Santorini is anticipated to enhance the culinary landscape of West Cape May, offering both locals and visitors a taste of Mediterranean flavors in a beautifully reimagined setting.
