Loveski Deli is set to broaden its footprint in the San Francisco culinary scene with a new location at 499 Jackson Street. This expansion will replace Postscript Cafe, which will close on January 28, 2026. The new deli is anticipated to open its doors in late February or early March 2026, according to reports from SFist.
The upcoming Jackson Square deli will feature a diverse menu that includes Loveski’s signature California “Jew-ish” bagels, alongside offerings such as coffee, smoothies, lunch bowls, and grab-and-go sandwiches crafted on Josey Baker bread. Notably, a whitefish salad sandwich inspired by Japanese convenience store fare will be part of the selection. The deli aims to provide both indoor table seating and outdoor sidewalk seating, catering to local workers and visitors alike.
Background and Culinary Vision
Loveski Deli first launched in 2022 at Napa’s Oxbow Public Market and opened its second location at Marin County Mart in Larkspur in 2023. The deli has quickly gained acclaim, with its bagels being named the Bay Area’s favorite by the food team at the San Francisco Chronicle in the summer of 2025.
Owned and operated by Chef Christopher Kostow and his wife, Martina Kostow, the deli reflects their commitment to creating a welcoming dining experience. Kostow is also recognized for his work at The Restaurant at Meadowood, which earned three Michelin stars before being destroyed in the 2020 Glass Fire. The couple expanded their portfolio with Ciccio, an Italian restaurant in Yountville, in 2023, while Loveski serves as an active platform for their culinary endeavors during Meadowood’s hiatus.
The Jackson Square location will likely offer Montreal-style bagels, known for their chewy texture and seed-coated tops. Patrons can expect signature dishes such as smoked salmon and whitefish sandwiches, pastrami egg and cheese bagels, avocado and cucumber with herb cream cheese, matzoh brei, and a variety of salads, dumplings, and soups. Sides will include mini potato latkes and loaded fries, providing a mix of grab-and-go and dine-in options.
Strategic Location and Community Impact
The choice of Jackson Square for this new deli is strategic, given the area’s historic charm, proximity to several office buildings, and consistent foot traffic. The Kostows aim to blend thoughtful culinary craft with community-centered dining, preserving deli traditions while introducing modern flavors.
As Loveski Deli prepares for its grand opening, the anticipation from both locals and visitors continues to grow. The new establishment is expected to enhance the thriving food culture of San Francisco while offering a unique dining experience rooted in the couple’s culinary expertise.
