Hood County, Texas, has officially renamed a section of Williamson Road as the Charlie Kirk Memorial Parkway, a move aimed at commemorating the influential conservative leader. On January 13, 2023, the Hood County Commissioners Court approved the renaming, which is intended to preserve Kirk’s legacy for future generations. The roadway, located south of Granbury and approximately 44 miles southwest of Fort Worth, will now carry his name.
The proclamation recognizing Charlie Kirk highlights his “unwavering commitment to the ideals that define the American spirit,” as well as his Christian faith and leadership within the conservative movement. Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was notable for amplifying the voices of young Americans on various issues. Tragically, Kirk’s life was cut short on September 10, 2022, when he was fatally shot during a discussion about transgender rights at a college campus in Utah. He was just 31 years old and a father of two.
