Remembering John Davidson: A Life of Family, Service, and Passion

John Wayne Davidson, a beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and adventure. Born in San Pedro to Cleo and John Davidson, he grew up in a family that cherished outdoor activities, particularly camping and fishing. John was the eldest of three brothers and attended White Point, Dana, and San Pedro High School, where he was active on the swim team and found joy in his Volkswagen Bug and the local car club.

Early Life and Career

John graduated with the Class of S’69 and began working at the San Pedro News-Pilot, following in his father’s footsteps in the world of journalism. It was during this time that he met Laureen Demaria. The two married on October 2, 1971, and welcomed their daughter, Kimmy, in 1973. The family frequently visited ‘the river’, a cherished escape that became a second home for John, where he enjoyed water skiing, jet skiing, parasailing, and, most importantly, fishing.

In 1977, John joined Demaria Electric, founded by his father-in-law, Anthony Demaria Sr.. He quickly became one of the first employees, proving himself to be a dedicated and skilled worker, supporting his father-in-law in every way possible. John’s commitment to family and hard work defined his character.

A New Chapter in Bullhead City

In 1984, John and Laureen made the significant move to Bullhead City, Arizona, realizing a lifelong dream of living on the water. Here, John became a firefighter, eventually rising to the rank of Battalion Chief, while also establishing his own business, Davidson Electric. He built his own home, creating a space that welcomed family and friends.

Throughout the years, John maintained ties with San Pedro, often returning to assist at Demaria Electric when needed. His dedication to work was matched only by his passion for fishing. John and Laureen frequently hosted gatherings, creating joyful memories with family, particularly during the annual ‘Bullhead Easter Bunny Hop’, where the entire family would come together at the lake.

John is remembered fondly by his family—his wife Laureen, daughter Kimmy and her husband David Hansen, and his grandchildren, Dalton and Renn. He was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, influencing the lives of many with his kindness and spirit. As those who knew him reflect on his life, they remember him as a great man who loved fiercely and was deeply cherished in return.

“John, may you catch that Big Bass in the sky,” his family expressed in heartfelt tributes.

John Davidson’s legacy of love, dedication, and adventure will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His contributions to both his family and community stand as a testament to a life well-lived.
