UPDATE: Lorraine F. Lease, aged 94, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem on January 9, 2026. Her death has left a significant impact on the community, as she was a beloved figure known for her dedication to education and volunteer work.
Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, PA, Lorraine was a passionate educator who taught for over 30 years, spending two decades in the Bethlehem Area School District. She held both a teaching degree from Kutztown University and a Master’s degree from Lehigh University. After retiring, Lorraine and her late husband, George M. Lease, who passed away on February 22, 2003, enjoyed a vibrant lifestyle filled with travel, tennis, and skiing.
Lorraine’s legacy extends beyond her career; she was an active volunteer for numerous organizations, including Meals on Wheels and the Allentown Art Museum. She was also a cherished member of the Central Moravian Church, where she engaged with the community through music and service.
She is survived by her sisters Althea Lazun and Joyce Hess, as well as stepdaughters Joan Johnson and Susan Baier, along with numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lorraine’s passing has been deeply felt by family and friends alike.
A memorial service will be held at Central Moravian Chapel on March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM, where loved ones will gather to celebrate her life and contributions. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
