UNICEF will commemorate its 75th anniversary with a significant in-person celebration at the Institute of Contemporary Art on November 30, 2023. This event will coincide with celebrations across multiple cities in the United States, including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. Attendees will have the option to participate virtually, ensuring broader engagement. Funds raised during the event will support UNICEF’s vital humanitarian efforts to improve the lives of children globally.
The event, titled UNICEF at 75, will feature a premier screening of a documentary directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Ben Proudfoot. This film will highlight UNICEF’s extensive history and ongoing initiatives, particularly its commitment to ensuring equitable vaccine distribution during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, Laura Driscoll, director of philanthropy for the northeast region at UNICEF USA, expressed her excitement: “We are thrilled to have the Boston community and supporters from around the United States come together on Giving Tuesday to rejoice in UNICEF’s milestone 75-year anniversary and celebrate our lifesaving work.” She emphasized that UNICEF has tirelessly worked in 190 countries to create a more equitable world for every child.
Honoring Celebrity Support and Humanitarian Commitment
The UNICEF at 75 event has garnered significant attention, with numerous A-list celebrities serving as honorary chairs. Notable figures such as David Beckham, Katy Perry, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Millie Bobby Brown have pledged their support, further highlighting the event’s prominence.
UNICEF, founded in 1946, continues to provide essential services to children around the world, including health care, nutrition, and emergency relief. As the organization celebrates this important milestone, it remains focused on addressing the urgent challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic.
Tickets for the event are priced at $1,500 for individual entries, with a virtual ticket option available for $200. Many locations, including New York, where UNICEF’s headquarters are situated, have already sold out.
The celebration not only marks a significant anniversary but also reaffirms UNICEF’s dedication to its mission of improving children’s lives through advocacy and action. As the organization looks to the future, it aims to build on its legacy while addressing the pressing needs of vulnerable populations worldwide.
