Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison will be sidelined for up to seven weeks due to a hamstring injury. This development follows his exit during the club’s 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on Saturday. The Brazilian international suffered the injury while competing for a ball with Villa defender Ezri Konsa, grabbing at his left hamstring before collapsing on the pitch.
During a press conference on Thursday, head coach Thomas Frank confirmed the severity of Richarlison’s condition. “Richy, unfortunately, got a hamstring injury that will keep him out for up to seven weeks,” he stated. The loss of Richarlison adds to Tottenham’s growing list of injury absentees, which already includes Mohamed Kudus and Rodrigo Bentancur, both expected to be out for several months. Additionally, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison have not made an appearance this season due to long-term knee injuries.
While the team faces these challenges, there is some positive news with the return of Dominic Solanke and Destiny Udogie to the squad. Furthermore, Conor Gallagher joined Tottenham on Wednesday in a transfer deal worth €40 million (approximately £34.7 million or $46.6 million) from Atletico Madrid.
As the transfer window remains open, Frank indicated that the club is actively seeking opportunities to enhance the squad. “We are in the market, as I’ve said many times, to see if we can improve the squad,” he noted. “But it needs to be something that improves the squad short and long term.”
The team’s next challenge will be against West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday, where they will aim to overcome the absence of key players, including Richarlison, as they strive to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
