In a nostalgic reunion, former reality show couple, Hong Jong Hyun and Yura, shared their first impressions of each other over a decade after their time on the popular show, We Got Married. Reflecting on First Impressions
During the more than 20-minute video, Yura and Hong reminisced about their experiences on We Got Married, which featured celebrities in staged marriages. They discussed their initial thoughts on one another when they first met on the set of MBC Music Core.
Yura revealed her first impression of Hong was that he seemed rather cold and unapproachable. “I thought he might be kinda mean,” she admitted. “Hong Jong Hyun looked cold back then, walking around with this ‘I’m looking for my wife’ concept.” As they spent more time together, Yura discovered a different side to him. “The more I got to know you, I was like, ‘Wow, you’re actually super soft inside and you take such good care of people,’” she said, reflecting on their time filming together.
Hong, on the other hand, recalled his first meeting with Yura and expressed his surprise at her demeanor. “I walked into the Girl’s Day waiting room, and I was like, ‘Who is it?’ But I knew right away,” he said. According to him, Yura had a shy and soft presence at first. “After a while, you were the opposite of me: bright, talkative, and I was glad we were different,” he added.

The chemistry between the two led to speculation that the producers intentionally paired them to create a dynamic contrast. Yura commented, “It feels like they paired us on purpose. The PD probably thought, ‘If it’s her, maybe she can break through his wall.’” This playful acknowledgment of their differences highlighted the unique charm that made their segment memorable among fans of the show.
