SCV Water Launches Gardening Club to Boost Community Engagement

UPDATE: The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency has just announced the launch of the SCV Water Gardening Club, a groundbreaking community initiative set to kick off on January 31, 2026. This program aims to empower residents with expert-led workshops focused on creating stunning, sustainable, and water-efficient landscapes tailored to the Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) environment.

The inaugural workshop will take place from 9-11 a.m. at 23780 Pine Street, Newhall, featuring the topic “Intro to Container Gardening: Veggies, Herbs & Pollinator Plants.” This hands-on class is designed to equip gardeners of all skill levels with practical tips for cultivating food and pollinator-friendly plants in limited spaces.

“This new club gives residents a fun, welcoming way to stay engaged all year long,” said Laura Gallegos, Senior Communications Specialist at SCV Water. “Whether someone is new to gardening or looking to deepen their knowledge, there’s something for everyone.”

The Gardening Club is a response to the community’s growing interest in sustainable gardening practices. It builds on SCV Water’s previous popular workshops, transforming them into a cohesive club experience that fosters continuous learning, hands-on participation, and community connection.

Significant Topics Ahead: The 2026 lineup promises a diverse range of workshops covering important subjects like native plant arranging, composting, edible planting, and wildfire-resilient landscaping. Participants can also look forward to bilingual lawn replacement classes and a festive year-end celebration for all club members.

According to Matt Dickens, sustainability manager at SCV Water, “The Gardening Club is about more than plants — it’s about building community.” By offering these workshops throughout the year, SCV Water aims to create opportunities for residents to acquire practical skills while connecting with local gardening experts.

Workshops are primarily scheduled for Saturdays and will be available in both in-person and virtual formats. The initiative promises to engage the community in meaningful ways, encouraging residents to create beautiful and resilient landscapes that conserve water.

Registration Now Open: Spaces for these workshops are filling up quickly, and early registration is encouraged. Interested participants can find the full schedule and register at yourSCVwater.com/landscape-workshops.

This initiative not only supports individual gardening efforts but also contributes to the overall health of the community by promoting sustainable practices. The SCV Water Gardening Club is poised to be a vital resource for residents aiming to enhance their gardening skills while fostering a strong sense of community engagement in the Santa Clarita Valley.
