Dwayne Johnson’s ZOA Energy Settles $3 Million Lawsuit

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s energy drink brand, ZOA Energy, has agreed to a settlement of $3 million in a class action lawsuit filed in California. The lawsuit, initiated on October 23, 2023, alleged that ZOA Energy’s drinks contained chemical preservatives despite the brand’s claims of being preservative-free. This legal action has drawn significant attention due to Johnson’s celebrity status and the nature of the allegations.

According to reports from USA Today, the lawsuit specifically claimed that ZOA Energy products contained the preservatives citric acid and ascorbic acid, contradicting the company’s marketing. The settlement was reached without any admission of wrongdoing by ZOA, which maintains that its labeling and marketing practices comply with applicable laws. Court documents emphasized that ZOA denies the allegations made against it.

Consumers who purchased ZOA Energy drinks between March 1, 2021 and November 21, 2025 are eligible to receive part of the settlement. Customers must provide proof of purchase to claim a full share of the settlement. For those unable to provide proof, a maximum of $10 can be claimed for up to ten drinks. This compensation, while modest, provides some relief for those who feel misled.

The deadline for consumers to file claims is set for February 20, 2025. Interested parties can submit their claims through the designated online portal. While ZOA Energy has reached a settlement, the final approval for this agreement is scheduled for March 26, 2025, leaving open the possibility of further developments in the case.

As ZOA Energy navigates this legal landscape, the situation underscores the importance of transparency in product labeling, especially in the highly competitive energy drink market. Johnson’s involvement adds a layer of public interest, given his prominence in both the entertainment and business worlds.
