Major Cast Changes on Days of Our Lives This Week: January 5-9

As the week of January 5–9, 2025, begins in Salem, fans of Days of Our Lives are eager to see both familiar faces return and bid farewell to some beloved characters. The long-running soap opera, which airs on NBC, is experiencing notable cast shifts that will undoubtedly keep viewers engaged.

Returning Characters and New Faces

This week, several actors are making their return to the show. Notably, Judi Evans, who portrays Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis, has been absent from the series since October 2025. Fans can look forward to her return in scenes opposite Lauren Koslow, who plays Kate, later this week.

Also rejoining the cast is Peter Porte, reprising his role as Dimitri Von Leuschner as of January 2. Viewers can expect to see him frequently as he reintegrates into Salem’s complex social dynamics.

Another significant development involves Conner Floyd, who took over the role of Chad DiMera last summer after Billy Flynn departed. Although Floyd has been filming for months, Flynn’s scenes have continued to air due to the show’s extended production schedule. Fans are now anticipating Floyd’s official debut as Chad, confirmed for April, with the actor teasing his upcoming appearance on social media.

Departures from the Show

While some actors are returning, others are concluding their time on Days of Our Lives. Bryan R. Dattilo, who has portrayed Lucas Horton since 1993, wrapped up his latest storyline last week. Despite his departure, there is potential for a return in the future, keeping the door open for his character.

Additionally, Billy Flynn is set to conclude his role as Chad DiMera in April. Flynn currently balances appearances on both Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless, portraying Cane Ashby.

The character Rachel Black will also see a change, as actress Alice Halsey completed her filming last year to join the cast of Netflix’s upcoming remake of Little House on the Prairie. A new actress will take over the role, with her introduction scheduled for March.

Lastly, the role of Ari Horton is undergoing a recast as well. Following Marissa Reyes, who debuted in May 2025, a new performer will step into the role beginning in March. While it is expected that both Halsey and Reyes will depart this week, they may still make a few appearances before their final exit.

The ongoing changes in the cast of Days of Our Lives reflect the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of soap opera storytelling. As characters come and go, viewers can anticipate fresh storylines and developments that will keep them engaged in the lives of Salem’s residents.
