UPDATE: Soquel High’s boys basketball team delivered a stunning performance, crushing Watsonville 77-42 in a nonleague game held on January 6, 2023. Senior center Connor Corlett was a standout, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, leading the Knights to a decisive victory.
The Knights made their intentions clear early on, racing to a commanding 29-11 lead after the first quarter and stretching it to 48-16 by halftime. Coach Chris Christensen praised his team’s unselfish play, stating, “We have been struggling offensively, but tonight we moved the ball better and created open shots for each other.”
Senior Miles Johnson contributed significantly, netting 14 points, while juniors Ryan Grilli and Mason Esters each added 9 points. Grilli excelled from beyond the arc, sinking three of the team’s 11 three-pointers.
The loss puts Watsonville at 4-2 for the season, with senior forward/center Anthony Razo leading the Wildcats with 9 points. They will look to rebound when they host Saint Francis of Mountain View on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
