Newark Airport to Host Longest Nonstop Flights in 2026

Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is set to become a key hub for long-haul flights in 2026, featuring routes that stretch up to 9,500 miles nonstop. Located in New Jersey, EWR offers travelers a more manageable alternative to the busy John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City. As United Airlines’ primary East Coast hub, Newark attracts substantial long-haul international traffic, not only from the US legacy carrier but also from its partners in the Star Alliance.

Singapore Airlines Leads the Long-Haul Charge

The highlight of Newark’s long-haul offerings is undoubtedly Singapore Airlines’ daily flights to Changi Airport (SIN). This route spans 9,484 miles (approximately 15,263 km) and has a scheduled block time of roughly 19 hours and 10 minutes from Newark, and 17 hours and 50 minutes returning to Singapore. The airline employs a modified Airbus A350-900ULR (Ultra Long Range) for this service, which is known for its premium cabin configuration. Notably, this aircraft does not feature any economy seats, instead offering 67 business class94 premium economy recliners.

When the route was relaunched in 2018, Singapore Airlines emphasized its commitment to providing fast, comfortable travel between the two cities, stating, “The flights will offer our customers the fastest way to travel between the two cities, in great comfort, together with Singapore Airlines’ legendary service.”

Other Noteworthy Long-Haul Routes

Following Singapore Airlines, the next longest nonstop flights from Newark in 2026 range between 7,000 and 8,000 miles. United Airlines plans to operate this route with an average of 343 departures scheduled for the year, utilizing the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

In addition to Johannesburg, United Airlines will also serve Cape Town (CPT) on a 7,816-mile (approximately 12,579 km) route, with up to 18 flights per month. According to Simple Flying, United Airlines has emerged as the leading US carrier for flights to and from South Africa.

The fourth and fifth positions on this list are occupied by routes to India, with Mumbai (BOM) being the furthest at 7,806 miles (about 12,563 km). This route will see Air India operating 12 to 14 flights monthly using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Competing on this route are also United Airlines’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Meanwhile, the fifth longest nonstop flight connects Newark to Delhi (DEL), covering 7,323 miles (approximately 11,785 km).

Ethiopian Airlines will contribute to Newark’s long-haul portfolio, operating a non-stop route to Addis Ababa (ADD) that measures 6,985 miles (around 11,241 km) with up to 14 departures each month. United Airlines will also add a new route to Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) in South Korea, spanning 6,897 miles (approximately 11,100 km).

As Newark continues to expand its international offerings, travelers can expect a range of options connecting them to distant destinations, all while enjoying the convenience of one of the busiest airports in the United States.
