Urgent: UD Student Arrested with Guns, Body Armor, Assault Plans

BREAKING: A 25-year-old University of Delaware student, Luqmaan Khan, was arrested late on November 24, 2023, after police discovered weapons and a notebook detailing assault plans and diagrams of the campus police department. This alarming incident has prompted an urgent investigation, with authorities confirming that Khan has been banned from all University of Delaware campuses.

The arrest occurred just before midnight when police were conducting checks at a local park. They noticed a white Toyota Tacoma, driven by Khan, parked after hours. After refusing to exit his vehicle and resisting arrest, Khan was taken into custody. A search of the Tacoma revealed a loaded handgun, extended magazines, body armor, a laptop, binoculars, and a troubling notebook filled with notes on warfare techniques and specific plans related to the University of Delaware Police Department.

Authorities reported that the notebook included a detailed diagram of the police building, outlining entry and exit points, alongside references to specific officers by name. Following this discovery, federal authorities were alerted and executed a search of Khan’s home, where they reportedly found another handgun modified with an illegal “switch” to convert it into a machine gun.

Khan now faces multiple felony weapons charges, including possession of a large capacity magazine and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He has been transferred to the custody of the FBI for further investigation and potential additional charges.

This incident raises serious concerns about safety on campus and the effectiveness of security measures. Interim University President Laura Carlson emphasized the university’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment for students and staff, stating, “The safety of our community is our top priority, and we are taking this matter very seriously.”

As this investigation unfolds, the University of Delaware community is urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Authorities continue to assess the situation, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
