Urgent: Suspect Attempts to Steal Firearm from Deputy at Library

UPDATE: A serious incident unfolded at the Saratoga Library on November 19, when a suspect attempted to steal a firearm from a deputy during a confrontation. The disturbance began after the suspect allegedly assaulted two library staff members before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

Deputies quickly responded to the scene, locating the suspect shortly after committing a traffic violation nearby. Upon investigation, officers discovered the suspect had an outstanding warrant. During the arrest, the individual violently resisted and made an alarming attempt to remove a firearm from one deputy’s holster. Authorities have confirmed the suspect is now in custody and booked into the main jail.

In a separate incident on November 21, deputies were called to El Quito Park regarding a suspicious individual. Upon arrival, they found the person under the influence of alcohol and in possession of a shuriken. The weapon was surrendered without further incident, and the individual was transported to a sobering station. This case is currently under review by the District Attorney’s Office.

Additionally, on November 22, deputies responded to reports of a vehicle off the roadway at Congress Springs Road and Pierce Road. An investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from San Jose.
