Urgent Open House for Highway 210 Project Set for Oct. 29

UPDATE: An urgent open house will be held on October 29, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at Deerwood City Hall to discuss significant upcoming construction on Highway 210. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) invites the public to learn about the planned improvements and express their concerns.

This open house format allows residents to drop in at their convenience, view project layouts, and engage directly with MnDOT team members. No formal presentation will be made, ensuring that attendees can ask questions and gather information that impacts their community.

The project spans from Crosby to Deerwood, with preliminary design work slated to continue through 2027. Final designs and traffic plans are expected to be completed by 2028, with construction beginning in 2029. This project will demand detours, making it crucial for residents to stay informed.

Key improvements include resurfacing sections of Highway 210, updating drainage systems, installing new pavement markings, and enhancing pedestrian sidewalks. The stretch from east of Third Avenue East in Crosby to East Broadway in Deerwood will see significant upgrades, which will also include repairs to existing guardrails and the installation of rumble strips for safety.

In Deerwood, the project will reconstruct the road surface from East Broadway to Ruggles Avenue and improve the intersection of Highway 210 (Highway 6) and Crow Wing County Road 12. These enhancements aim to improve safety and accessibility for both vehicles and pedestrians.
