Tennessee Man Charged with Murder After Fatal DUI Crash

UPDATE: A Tennessee man has been charged with murder following a deadly DUI crash in Montgomery, Alabama that claimed the life of 54-year-old Frederick Bernard Hill. The incident occurred at 8:07 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the intersection of East Fairview Avenue and Norman Bridge Road.

Cameron Wilhite, 28, of Memphis, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he collided with a Ford Escape before striking Hill’s Ford Explorer. Hill was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local hospital. Authorities report that Wilhite’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was an alarming .15—nearly twice the legal limit—according to testing conducted 90 minutes after the crash.

The responding officer noted open containers of alcohol inside Wilhite’s vehicle and described him as being in an “obviously impaired state.” He was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility on Thursday, where he remains held without bond.
