Salvatore Maimone, 88, Passes Away; Funeral Services Scheduled

BREAKING: Salvatore Maimone, aged 88, has passed away peacefully at Capstone Nursing Home on December 23, 2025. Born on March 26, 1937, in Meri, Messina, Sicily, Maimone leaves behind a legacy of family and community involvement.

Maimone immigrated to the United States in 1971, settling in Schenectady, where he became a respected mason for Local 190 in Albany. He was also an active member of the Sons of Italy organization on Hamburg Street, contributing significantly to the local Italian-American community.

His family, which includes his children, Giuseppe and Orazio Maimone, and grandchildren—Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto—are mourning his loss. Maimone was predeceased by his beloved wife, Antonina, in 2006, and he is also survived by his sister, Anna, in Italy, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The community is invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Monday, December 29th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m., with interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
