URGENT UPDATE: The community of Galway, New York is mourning the loss of Ruth E. Gerardi, who passed away on November 9, 2025, at the age of 100. Ruth, a beloved figure in the area, dedicated her life to service and community engagement, leaving a legacy that will be remembered by many.
Born on December 2, 1924, in Green Island, New York, Ruth was the daughter of John and Ruth Millington. Her career included many years at Trustco Bank in Schenectady, where she was known for her dedication and kindness.
In 1948, Ruth became a charter member of the Galway United Methodist Church, where she played an active role as an officer and choir member, and organized numerous fundraising events that benefited the church and the community. Her commitment extended beyond the church as she also served on the Saratoga County Aging Advisory Council and was a dedicated member of the Galway Lioness, the Galway Women’s Club, and the Galway Senior Citizens.
Ruth’s passion for life included knitting and traveling with her family, bringing joy to those around her. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Gerardi, her sister Shirley Cornell, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Sharyn Kalinkewicz (Gary), goddaughter Pam Neahr (Dave), and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 12, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 13, at 10 a.m. at the Galway United Methodist Church, 2056 East Street, Galway. Following the service, burial will be at the Galway Village Cemetery.
