Robert J. Recker, 92, of Allentown, Passes Away; Services Announced

URGENT UPDATE: Robert J. Recker, a beloved figure in Allentown, has passed away at the age of 92. He died on December 26, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital – Allentown Campus, leaving behind a legacy of service and community involvement.

Born in Allentown, Recker served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. He was not only a veteran but also a dedicated family man and businessman, owning popular local restaurants such as The Red Cove and the Episcopal House Restaurant.

Recker was an active member of the local community, working for many years at Prior Coated Metal and later in maintenance at Cedar View Apartments until his retirement. He was also known for his exceptional woodworking skills and regularly attended Faith Church in Allentown.

Recker is survived by his daughters, Deborah L. Recker and Tami M. Transue, along with two grandsons, Timothy A. Horlacher and Brett R. Horlacher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene E. Recker, in 1998, and his brother, James Recker.

A viewing is scheduled for January 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, located at 46 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown. Military honors will be rendered during his interment at Cedar Hill Memorial Park on January 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Recker’s memory. This significant loss is felt deeply within the Allentown community, where he leaves behind many friends and admirers.
