This urgent update highlights the Mustangs’ performance, with Emma Beyer finishing with a perfect record of 4-0 and Hadley Millang securing three wins, including impressive pins.
In their first match, the Mustangs triumphed over Clarke with a score of 42-23. Despite being 2-3 in contested matches, PCM capitalized on five forfeits. Millang and Addison Fry both won their matches by fall at 135 and 115 pounds respectively. This strategic victory set the tone for the day.
Next, the Mustangs edged out North Polk based on criteria, claiming six forfeit wins. Millang achieved a remarkable pin just 11 seconds into her match, contributing to the team’s overall success despite being 1-3 in contested matches. Forfeits were also claimed by Ryan DeVore (110), Courtney Cole (120), Holly Wood (140), Macie Kain (145), and Beyer (170).
However, the Mustangs faced tough competition against host Woodward-Granger, falling 48-28. In this dual, PCM was 1-3 in contested matches, with Wilkerson securing a pin in just 17 seconds at 155 pounds. Beyer also contributed with an 18-7 major decision victory at 170. Both teams had three forfeits, where wins for PCM were recorded by Birkenholtz, DeVore, and Fry.
The day concluded with a challenging match against Dallas Center-Grimes, where PCM lost 60-18. Millang was the standout performer, earning the only contested win for her team by fall in the first period. Despite the setbacks, PCM’s performance highlighted their resilience and skill.
