UPDATE: The highly anticipated new Kia Seltos has been unveiled in South Korea, showcasing a host of exciting features and a bigger design aimed at keeping it affordable. Scheduled for U.S. sales in 2026, this model marks a significant upgrade, including a hybrid variant expected to launch later that year.
The new Seltos is set to capture attention with its stylish design inspired by the popular Telluride and EV9 SUVs. At a length of 174.4 inches, it has grown by 1.8 inches compared to its predecessor, while its wheelbase has increased by 2.4 inches. These changes aim to enhance passenger and cargo space, responding to customer demand for more room and comfort.
Kia is making strides to maintain affordability, with the starting price set at $23,690. The automaker aims to produce 430,000 units annually, building on the success of the first-generation Seltos, which sold over 2 million units in five years. This new model will be assembled in India, South Korea, and China, marking Kia’s first foray into selling the Seltos in Europe.
In terms of technology, the new Seltos will feature a ChatGPT-powered virtual assistant for navigation and other tasks, a first for the model. It will also include a panoramic sunroof, multiple tire sizes ranging from 16 to 19 inches, and a 12-inch head-up display. The interior will feature a modern layout with dual 12.3-inch screens and ample connectivity options.
Kia plans to offer several powertrain options, including three gasoline engines with outputs ranging from 149 to 193 horsepower. Additionally, a hybrid model will expand the lineup, although details on which gasoline engines will be available in the U.S. remain unclear.
As Kia continues to innovate, the new Seltos aims to balance style, technology, and affordability, appealing to a broad range of consumers. The automaker has stated that specific pricing and fuel economy figures will be announced closer to the sales launch.
Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches, and watch for more developments in the compact SUV market as Kia positions the Seltos against competitors like the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Honda HR-V, and Toyota Corolla Cross.
