This year’s Capitol Christmas tree is a significant honor, marking a first for Turck’s Trees after winning grand champion at the 2024 Minnesota State Fair.
The tree was delivered to St. Paul on Tuesday and is now prominently displayed in the rotunda, where it will remain for public admiration long after the holiday season. The balsam fir, celebrated for its lush green needles and conical shape, is also renowned as one of the most fragrant Christmas tree varieties, making it a favorite for many families.
Turck’s Trees, owned by Joan and Steve Turck, has been a cherished family-run business since 1875. The farm has been cultivating Christmas trees since 1981 and boasts over 100 acres of trees. Notably, the Turck family has multiple generations working together, continuing a legacy that emphasizes quality and tradition.
This year, Turck’s Trees stood out among more than 120 competitors from the Minnesota Christmas Tree Association, showcasing the finest in holiday spirit and community pride. In 2024, Turck’s also provided trees to the Governor’s Residence, further establishing their reputation in the region.
