UPDATE: A Middletown man, Tyshawn Jermiane Adams, is facing multiple charges after allegedly dragging a police officer from his vehicle and leading a dangerous high-speed pursuit on Christmas Day. According to Connecticut State Police, the chaos began in the early morning hours when officers attempted to stop Adams, who was driving a black Ford Edge. He reportedly accelerated to speeds exceeding 100 mph on Interstate 91, evading police while weaving through traffic and even turning off his headlights. This reckless behavior posed significant risks not only to law enforcement but to other motorists as well.
The pursuit started around 2:30 a.m. when troopers spotted the suspect’s vehicle entering I-91/Route 5 and 15 from Exit 27 in Hartford. During the chase, police deployed stop sticks, successfully puncturing one of the vehicle’s tires. However, Adams continued to drive north, eventually slowing down on the Exit 28 ramp.
In a tense moment, state police conducted a controlled box-in maneuver to stop Adams, who then allegedly struck a police cruiser, disabling it. Following this dangerous confrontation, he was taken into custody.
