Mary A. Yurasits, 94, Passes Away; Community Mourns Loss

URGENT UPDATE: Mary A. Yurasits, aged 94, has passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the Fellowship Community in Whitehall. Born on November 6, 1931, in Kreidersville, her death marks a significant loss for the Northampton community.

Mary was a beloved figure, known for her long-term commitment to her family and her faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Yurasits, in 2024. A graduate of Northampton High School, Mary was actively involved in her community and was a proud member of the high school’s Eight Balls.

She dedicated many years to her work as a secretary at the Novagratz Tax Office and was a devoted member of the Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Northampton. Mary leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters Lorene Kahler (Randy), Rochelle Reice (Richard), and Sharon Urbanczuk (Roman), as well as her son Gary (Sherri). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sadly, she was preceded in death by a son, John, and two grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 17th, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, located at 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m., with interment planned for the parish cemetery.
