Marjorie Sack Hobday, 95, Passes Away Surrounded by Family

BREAKING: Marjorie Sack Hobday, a cherished matriarch and artistic spirit, has passed away at the age of 95. She peacefully departed her home in Burnt Hills, NY, on October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Marjorie’s passing marks the end of a remarkable life filled with love, creativity, and music. Born on April 8, 1930, in Niskayuna, NY, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Florence Sack. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Richard G. Hobday, and her brothers, Gordon and Kenneth Sack.

Marjorie and Richard were known for their passion for music, actively participating in various musical groups including the Schenectady Choral Society and the Burnt Hills Oratorio Society. Their musical journey intertwined with community engagement, as they lent their voices to church choirs, enriching the lives of those around them.

Marjorie’s legacy extends beyond music. Growing up during the Great Depression, she developed a resourceful spirit, often crafting and gardening, which brought her immense joy. The Hobdays cherished summers spent at their camp on the Sacandaga Reservoir, where they created lasting memories through nature and love.

She is survived by her son, Gordon Hobday, daughters Wendy Haugh and JoAnn Massad, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Those wishing to honor her memory can attend a Mass on November 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Calvary Episcopal Church, located at 85 Lake Hill Rd, Burnt Hills, NY. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church hall.
