Mammoet Unveils Revolutionary 60-Ton Hybrid Crane Today

UPDATE: French heavy lift and logistics giant Mammoet has just announced the addition of a groundbreaking 60-ton hybrid crane from XCMG, marking a significant leap in sustainable lifting technology. The XCA60 EV crane, weighing in at 60 tons, features a remarkable 48-meter telescopic boom and an optional 16-meter jib, allowing it to reach a hoist height of over 60 meters—ideal for urban construction and port operations.

This urgent development not only enhances Mammoet’s fleet but also emphasizes the company’s commitment to reducing environmental impact. “This delivery marks more than just a product handover – it’s a step forward in redefining what’s possible in sustainable lifting operations,” stated Zhen Li, chairman of XCMG Europe. The crane is designed to operate on a robust 170 kW electric motor powered by an integrated 115 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, providing 6-8 hours of continuous operation on battery alone.

Mammoet’s investment in the XCA60 EV highlights a pivotal shift in the heavy lifting sector towards electrification. The onboard diesel generator offers extended operational hours in areas lacking grid power, increasing efficiency by up to 40% compared to traditional diesel units. “We look forward to seeing it deliver real results for our clients, helping to reduce the carbon impact of projects while increasing their safety,” said Peter van Oostrom, director of global assets at Mammoet.

The XCA60 EV first made its debut as a concept at Bauma 2022, and now, it sets a new standard in the industry. This crane not only represents a technological advancement but also showcases Mammoet’s strategic plan to enhance sustainable lifting solutions across the Dutch market and beyond.

As the industry shifts towards greener alternatives, Mammoet’s new crane is poised to significantly impact construction operations worldwide, paving the way for more environmentally friendly practices in heavy lifting. The demand for sustainable solutions is growing, and this latest acquisition places Mammoet at the forefront of this vital transition.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story, as Mammoet continues to innovate and redefine heavy lifting operations with a focus on sustainability.
