URGENT UPDATE: Despite a forecast predicting up to 2 inches of rain on Saturday, the highly anticipated Light Up Main Street event will proceed as planned, illuminating Old Town Newhall from 4 to 8 p.m. Residents are encouraged to don their rain boots and bring umbrellas to participate in the official kickoff of the holiday season in Santa Clarita.
Attendees can gather in front of the Santa Clarita Public Library at 24500 Main St., where the Santa Clarita City Council will lead the countdown to light up the iconic Christmas tree, along with tens of thousands of dazzling lights, at 5:30 p.m.
While some activities will be canceled due to the weather, including the beloved s’mores fire pits and snow machines, the event promises a multitude of attractions. Guests can still enjoy the Makers Marketplace, main stage entertainment, sponsor tents, letters to Santa, the Snow Zone, food and beverage lounge, and a beer garden. Additionally, ice sculptures, nonprofit booths, photos with Santa, the Candy Cane Carnival, crafts, and the Santa Paws pet adoption opportunity will be available.
This year’s Light Up Main Street is not just an event but a community celebration that brings joy and warmth, even in the rain. The city encourages everyone to come together, support local vendors, and embrace the festive spirit.
