URGENT UPDATE: The Valdosta State Lady Blazers suffered a tough defeat against the Lynn University Fighting Knights, losing 76-65 in an intense matchup in Boca Raton, Florida, on November 27, 2025. The Lady Blazers, now 2-2 this season, faced a challenging opponent as the Fighting Knights improved to 4-1.
The game kicked off with an early lead for the Lady Blazers, thanks to a jumper from senior Aryana Hicks and a layup by sophomore Ka’Miah Pryor. However, the tide turned quickly when Lynn’s Hannah Wentworth hit a three-pointer to give the Fighting Knights their first advantage at 12-11.
With consistent shooting, Lynn surged ahead, closing the first quarter with a commanding lead of 23-14. The second quarter proved disastrous for the Lady Blazers as Lynn went on a 9-0 run, extending their lead to 35-18. Despite a late three-pointer from sophomore Alina Martin, the Blazers found themselves trailing 44-22 at halftime.
The second half began with a glimmer of hope as junior Erin Whalen scored a mid-range jumper. However, Lynn continued to dominate, pushing the score to 59-39 by the end of the third quarter. Hicks remained a bright spot for the Blazers, contributing key points throughout the game.
As the final quarter unfolded, the Lady Blazers mounted a comeback, outscoring the Fighting Knights 23-17 in the fourth. Freshman Kaci Demps showcased her talent, scoring a quick layup and a three-pointer, narrowing the gap to 74-58. Despite their efforts, the Blazers couldn’t overcome the deficit and finished the game with a score of 76-65.
Hicks led Valdosta State with 17 points on an impressive 70% shooting performance, alongside three steals and two assists. Whalen shined in both rebounding and assists, tallying 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Demps also broke into double figures with a solid 10-point performance, making both attempts from beyond the arc.
The Lady Blazers will look to bounce back this Saturday, November 29No. 9 Embry-Riddle at 2 p.m. ET at The Complex. Fans can expect an exciting showdown as the team aims to improve their record against a top-ranked opponent.
